The goal of LPYF Cheer is to offer quality cheer instruction to youth athletes and work towards building a strong and dynamic youth program that will be long-lasting and provide a foundation for upcoming Lew-Port youth interested in cheerleading.
Cheerleading is a team sport for girls and boys in Kindergarten through 8th grade. No experience is necessary to make a squad. All that is necessary is ENTHUSIASM and SPIRIT! Cheerleading offers young athletes a chance to learn cheerleading skills involving motions, jumps, stunting, tumbling, and dance — possibly to pursue high school cheerleading. Squads are organized by AGE and skill level to ensure team compatibility, safety, and skill development.
For children ages 5-14 looking to participate in games and competitions, build friendships, and have fun!
Teams are determined by the age of each participant as of July 1, 2024.
When does Cheer Start? Starts the last week in July and continues through November
What days do we practice? To be decided by head coaches. During the summer practices will be held 2-4 days per week. When school starts typically practices go to 1-3 days per week. Practice days and times are up to each squad's coach. You can contact your child's coach through the Sports Engine App. Mandatory practice is usually held shortly before any competition.
What does my cheer registration cover? Registration includes competition fees, music copyright, trophy, cheerleader banquet ticket, sneakers, socks, headband, & gloves, plus either girls' bow and rental of girls' full uniform (shell, body liner & skirt), or boys' uniform (includes shorts & wrist band (to keep) and rental of top to be returned at the end of the season in good condition. We will be sizing for uniforms & sneakers at Family Nights which will be held at our LPYF Red Brick School office in Lewiston. Are there any additional Costs? Warmups are optional but encouraged and will be available for purchase through Stuart Sports. The store will be available online.
